The Bulldogs returned home energized under the lights of Mason High School. As season openers go, this home-field advantage played out with poise—Mason's defense rose to the occasion, and the offense delivered just enough to keep the Rams off the board.

  • Mason Bulldogs, led by Head Coach Gary Houghton, who is entering his ninth season, are once again eyeing another deep postseason run—having reached the state semifinals four consecutive years*.

  • Holt Rams faced a stiff test to open their season on the road against a talented and battle-tested Mason squad.

What This Means for Both Teams

  • Mason Bulldogs: A confident start—1–0 overall, 0–0 league. They’re building on recent postseason success and maintaining a winning culture*.

  • Holt Rams: A challenging opener with lots to adjust. Traveling to Mason is always tough—plenty of time remains to regroup before league play.

Looking Ahead

Mason will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup on September 5 away against DeWitt, while Holt will regroup and prepare to return home to face Swartz Creek.
